I am a retired professional with nineteen years of full-time work experience in Malaysia. Presently providing non-commercial guidance and assistance to NeTS X Solutions, a Sabahan company, in their endeavor to advance sustainability technology in Malaysia. I am the spouse of a citizen of Malaysia and the parent of two children. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, with an additional minor in Botany. During my tenure at the university, I was honored with the Phi Beta Kappa Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
I held the position of Postdoctoral Scientist at the Max Planck Institute and the University of Cologne in Germany from July 1986 to March 1989, subsequent to the successful completion of my doctoral studies. After that, I held a number of biotechnology-related positions, including Director of Innovation R&D at Teck Guan Group in Tawau between August 2012 and August 2016.
Before assuming this position, I was a Plant Biotechnology Consultant at the Indonesian Biotechnology Research Institute for Estate Crops in Bogor from June to September 1995, and a Biotechnology Specialist at the Malaysian Cocoa Board from June 1997 to June 2011. From April 1989 to June 1996, I was also the Supervisor of the Molecular Biology Laboratory at the American Cocoa Research Institute of The Pennsylvania State University.

He has played a significant role in leading drilling fluids companies and providing guidance as a fluid’s advisor for an independent oil company in the UAE. He has extensive experience in offshore and land rigs, specializing in overseeing drilling fluids and waste operations. Alvin is currently focused on oil and gas sand control and remediation. His professional journey showcases agility, deep understanding of the field, and dedication to improving eco-friendly and effective drilling methods..

Throughout his extensive career, he has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned oil and gas companies to ensure safe and efficient drilling practices. From land rigs to offshore platforms and deep-water operations, his diverse experience spans across various drilling environments, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and intricacies involved.
Drawing from his partnerships with industry giants like BP, Shell, Exxon Mobil, and many others, Nathan brings real-world insights and practical expertise to the classroom. Whether it’s fluid management, waste control, or solids management, he has tackled it all and is eager to share his insights with you.
As an Integrated Fluid Engineering professional and recognized for his expertise as a Senior Training Instructor for M-I SWACO, Nathan has developed tailored training materials and conducted mud schools for professionals like yourself. Through instructor-led courses, he’ll guide you through the fundamentals of drilling and completion fluids, incorporating interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and real-world case studies to enhance your learning experience.
Additionally, Nathan has collaborated closely with industry suppliers such as Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and M-I SWACO to bring you the latest advancements in drilling fluid systems, specialty tools, and production technologies.
